Another aspect of this battle is graveyards. Each side is able to capture an enemy graveyard, which will give your faction another place to resurrect, usually closer to the enemy’s main keep. The two most important graveyards are Frostwolf Relief Hut and the Stormpike Aid Station. The loss of these graveyards can almost guarantee your side will lose the battle.

Now you are able to gather reinforcements for your side in two different ways. First, there are two mines located at either end of the valley. The two mines are able to be captured by your side if you can eliminate the enemy boss. If you are able to complete this feat, your side will gain back 1 reinforcement for every 45 seconds. If your faction is able to capture both mines, your side will gain double the amount of reinforcements in the same duration. The one common denominator to the success in Alterac Valley is the control of the graveyards. A stealth unit can capture a graveyard near the enemies keep while their comrades are distracting their enemy at another location. This would give your side the advantage of obtaining the prime location for your faction to resurrect themselves.

Everyone in the country these days is going off the deep end, it seems, debating the values versus perils of government-sponsored health care. Will everyone please just calm down for even a second and take a look at reality?

The truth is this nation has the highest health care costs on earth and little to show for it. Oh, yes, we have all the fancy gizmos like MRI equipment, botox, transplants of just about every bodypart you can think of. Does this apply to every person in need, though? What about the elderly cancer patient on a low fixed income? Or how about the student on her own with no wealthy relatives to help out, who gets meningitis? Or the numerous out-of-work Americans with no health care plan, no retirement funds to plunder, who are also losing their homes? Tell THEM they don’t need help, just tough it out and quit whining.

Coming from a bi-national family background (a “border baby”, with an American father and Canadian mother) I’ve had the wonderful experience of having lived in another country at one time. Having been born in Detroit, and brought back to Ontario by my mother once her marriage broke up, I grew up in Canada. There was no universal health care system there until the mid-’60s, and subsequently I missed out on many of the health needs a young child should have met. Once Ontario implemented the OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) system, it became possible for many people of that province to get care they required. Myself, I wasn’t in the program until it became possible for me in my twenties; not much long after that, the provincial government extended that availability to all residents, and this gradually spread nation-wide. Until you’ve been told you need surgery and don’t have to wonder how to pay for it, you can’t possibly appreciate the justice of such a system. It’s a crime against humanity for the poor to have to suffer and even die in some cases simply due to a lack of funds.

It also has no coverage for glasses, dental or drug costs unless you’re a senior citizen. There was also a brief period when doctors were allowed, in the late ’70s and early ’80s, to opt out of OHIP. There were even strikes by physicians, and many had already left for the greener grass of the US. Many also returned, disgusted because they were unable to collect their fees. At least they knew back in their homeland they’d get paid, even if there was a cap on what they could charge patients.

Another point made against government health care here is the long waits for treatment. Admittedly some waiting rooms I’ve seen in Ontario had long lineups. I have seen far, far worse situations, though, when living in California, with no insurance whatsoever. On an occasion where I had a serious eye injury, the patients spilled out of the waiting room onto the stairs outside. This was a clinic that did not take any insurance, and I was told the wait would be AT LEAST 8 HOURS. God knows how long some of the people sitting there with sick, vomiting, wheezing kids had already been waiting. Luckily I was able to find another clinic that only had a 2-hour wait, eventually. Had I needed immediate attention such as for a heart attack, who knows what the outcome might have been?

Certainly there needs to be open dialogue about health care reform, and the entire prospect needs careful drafting. Let’s not be reactionary, however, and automatically reject the idea. It is the parasympathetic response that is responsible for creating an erection. When a man gets an erection, the parasympathetic system triggers the release of Nitric Oxide. Nitric oxide stimulates the release of a chemical known as cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which causes the smooth muscle in the corpus cavernosum of the penis to relax. This in turn leads to increased blood flow to the special tissues of the penis. It is this increase in blood flow that causes an erection. Following along so far?

As is obvious, an erection is not desirable to have all the time, and thus there needs to be a way to rid the tissues of the penis of the nitric oxide. This is done in a healthy man by an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5). PDE-5 is released when the erection is no longer needed. It acts to break down the cGMP which is causing the erection. Once the cGMP is gone, the erection is gone as well.

Here’s where Viagra steps in. Viagra blocks PDE-5 from breaking down the cGMP. If the cGMP remains present, the erection sticks around as well (no pun intended). In effect, Viagra turns off the “off switch”. Note that because Viagra blocks the “off switch”, it is still necessary to stimulate the man to get the erection in the first place. Viagra cannot create an erection, it only helps maintain one.

It should be noted that cGMP has many other functions in the body in addition to its role in creating erections. Preventing the degradation of cGMP by blocking PDE-5 can also lead to the side effects that can be reported with Viagra use, such as low blood pressure, headache, flushing, and palpitations.

DIY: Installing a Programmable Thermostat

When programmable thermostats first came out, I was skeptical. I decided to do a little research, as the local power company was advertising them as the greatest thing since sliced bread. My old house central A/C unit used electricity like it was free, so I would turn it off during the day, and come home to an oven at night. Leaving it on for the cats wasn’t much better- I wound up counting pennies to keep the electricity on.

Remove the mounting screws and carefully remove the old thermostat. If it’s a mercury- filled thermostat, dispose of it properly. Make sure the wire labels stay in place. Whole Roasted Chicken with Vegetables

Okay, the quick part is that cooking this whole roasted chicken one day will save you time over the next couple of days. The one roasted chicken can be used for the next day’s lunches and dinners.

One way to cut down on the number of times you cook each week is to cook a roasting chicken. A roasting chicken, depending on the size of the chicken, and the size of the family, can be used in at least two or three meals.

Cook the roasting chicken on a day when you have time to make a full meal. It could be a weekend day,or a day off during the week. Rinse the chicken inside and out. Either place a couple of whole, unpeeled garlic cloves inside the chicken, or cut an orange in half and put that in the cavity of the chicken.

Toss some small red potatoes in the roasting pan, along with some whole, peeled carrots.

Season the exterior of the chicken with salt, pepper, thyme and Italian seasoning. Cook the whole, unstuffed chicken at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes per pound. When the chicken wings have browned, cover them with aluminum foil so they do not burn. Continue cooking the chicken uncovered. Cover the rest of the chicken with foil when it is browned to your liking, so it does not get too brown.

Remove and toss the chicken skin. Slice and serve the roasted chicken and vegetables with a salad.

The left over roasted chicken can be used for lunches. Make chicken breast sandwiches with multi-grain or whole wheat bread. Serve with salad and fruit.

Steam some broccoli until it is almost cooked. Removed and drain. Mix the steamed broccoli in a shallow casserole dish with cooked chicken pieces and low-sodium cream of chicken soup and 1/4 of sherry. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for 15 minutes.

The final meal to make with roasted chicken is soup. Remove the rest of the chicken from the bones. Boil the chicken bone carcass, with water, a bay leaf, thyme, salt, and Italian seasoning.

Strain the broth removing any bones. Return the broth to the pan, adding chicken meat, a halved onion, carrots cut into circles, and celery. Many other items can be added to the chicken soup.

Grains that can be added to chicken soup include: 1/2 cup of lentils, 1/2 cup of rice, 1/4 cup of pearl barley, a cup of pasta in any shape. Or add a can of white beans. These items can be added raw, or add cooked left overs. Adding raw grains and legumes increases cooking time and does require more water to be added to the broth.
