Laser Hair Removal
The first thing to keep in mind is that once you start the procedure, you should not expose the treated areas to the sun. Not only will a tan minimize the effects of the laser procedure, the sun can cause crusting and other unsightly effects if you expose recently treated skin to the sun. So if you are considering the procedure it should be done in the early fall or at a time when you know you won’t be in the sun swimming, boating or doing other recreational activities that may require little clothing. You must pay a visit at myethosspa.com to understand all the precautions in detail, which will help you complete your treatment satisfactorily.
It can take up to 6 or more treatments to fully remove all the unwanted hair. Most treatments start at about 8 weeks apart and then move to 12 weeks apart after a few treatments. Therefore, you have to plan on the timing to know if you will benefit from the procedure before you slip into that bikini or tank top.
Although many say laser hair removal feels like a rubber band snapping your skin, it hurts! That is one great big slapping rubber band if you ask me. While the pain only lasts a couple of minutes, it is much more than a slight pain and depending on where you are having the procedure the pain can be more or less intense. As you move on to more sessions, the strength of the laser will likely be increased. If you can’t handle the pain just let the clinic know and they can keep the settings lower for you. The pain subsides almost immediately after the treatment.
You can often get specials for instance “underarms” for about $49 per treatment but keep in mind that it can take up to 6 or more treatments to have a full effect. When these specials are advertised you must buy as many treatments as you want at that time to get the advertised rate. In other words for underarm treatment with 6 sessions, you will have to pay for all 6 sessions or $294 at the time of the advertised special.
Other areas can cost more. Legs are quite costly running around $189 per session for portions of the leg. Bikini areas can run $79 per session on special ad rates. These prices I have found in Texas at Smooth Solutions. I know there are “spas” that offer laser hair removal that cost much more but the treatment is basically the same. There are different types of lasers and you do need to investigate to be sure you are going to a reputable clinic.
Speaking of the bikini area procedure, it can be a bit embarrassing and intimidating. After consultation and finding out what shape, size etc., that you want, you literally have to lay flat on a table and a clinic employee shaves you and then draws with a marker the area that is to be treated. Then you move in to the treatment room and that area is treated with the laser, again, you are without clothing. So if you are shy, this may not work for you. However, the bikini area is one of the most requested procedures according to the Smooth Solutions clinic that I go to.
Laser hair removal works best on light skinned individuals with coarse hair as the laser is attracted to the dark portions. Any gray, blonde, or white hairs won’t be minimized so if you are thinking of getting the procedure, don’t wait until you have gray hairs in those areas.
One thing about laser hair removal, it can be addicting. Once you start you may want to keep going and going and going..
